Guillemot Corporation S.A. (hereinafter "Guillemot" or "we") respects the privacy rights of users of the Website (hereinafter "Users", "User" or "you") and is committed to protecting the information (including personal information) collected on or via the Website. In order to demonstrate this commitment, Guillemot has adopted this Policy in which we explain how we collect, store and use personal information.
We invite you to consult this Policy in order to get a better understanding of what is covered by the term "privacy". Certain zones or functionalities of the Website - whether current or future - requiring the collection and use of information (for example, a contest) may have their own conditions or regulations regarding privacy protection (and particular conditions of use). If you wish, you can consult them before entering your information. Guillemot reserves the right to modify this Policy without prior notice.
IF YOU ARE A MINOR (UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE), PLEASE READ THIS PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY WITH YOUR PARENTS OR LEGAL REPRESENTATIVE.

You have the right to access, modify, contest and rectify information pertaining to yourself. To exercise this right, please send your request to the "Webmaster" (in the "Contact" section, which can be accessed via the link found at the bottom of each page of the Website).

What information is collected?
Guillemot collects information about its Users in three ways: directly from the User, from our Web server logs, and with cookies.
User-supplied information: We do not collect any personal information from you without your consent. Guillemot collects information in the following cases: (1) registration as a member of the technical community, (2) registration for participation in a contest, (3) request for contact. With respect to the information that we collect, we may ask you for personal information such as your family name, given name, date of birth, e-mail address, nationality, country of residence, and your language. Moreover, we may collect information regarding elements such as your level of expertise, use of our products, and the type of information that you are searching for on the Website.
Guillemot also stores messages, comments and emails you have sent (including personally identifiable information).
Cookies: thanks to the information contained in cookies, Guillemot is able to better track its Users and offer them personalized contents or functionalities.
Cookies are simply pieces of information that are sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies do not include any information allowing you to be identified (name, email address or otherwise); they are typically used to quickly identify a User’s computer and to "remember" certain things about the User’s visit. The use of cookies is relatively standard on websites. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. If you prefer, you can configure your browser either to notify you when you receive a cookie, or to refuse to accept cookies. You may therefore oppose the use of cookies by configuring your Web browser accordingly, but you should be aware that pages and functionalities of the Website may not function properly if your browser does not accept cookies.
Guillemot also keeps tracks of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses for safety and security reasons. An IP address is a number used by computers on the network to identify your computer every time you connect to the Internet.
Server log information: the Website, like many other websites, passively collects and records information (connection data) via its server logs. This procedure allows it to record activities on the Website, including how many "hits" a particular web page is getting. These entries are generated anonymously and are not associated with any particular User, computer or browser.

You should also remember that whenever you voluntarily disclose personal information online (for example, by e-mail), your information can be collected and used by others. Although Guillemot endeavors to protect your personal information, Guillemot cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, and you therefore do so at your own risk. You are also solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any passwords you create and/or any information relating to your personal account as a member of the technical community (hereinafter referred to as the "Account").

What happens if I refuse to provide my personal information?
Should certain items of personal information not be made available to us, access to certain zones and functionalities of the Website will be affected: registration of your participation in a contest, a request for contact, membership of the technical community. However, personal information is not required in order to access the Website and consult the majority of its contents.

How will my personal information be used?
We use your information with respect to three categories:
Information provided by the User: Guillemot may use your personal information to create and manage a community of people interested in netbooks and/or software, implement a platform for communication, information and mutual aid between members of the community, for technical support, for commercial canvassing, to set up contests, to respond to e-mails you send us (including those sent via the "Contact" section), to establish anonymous statistics and profiles on persons interested in netbooks and/or software and study their needs, and for the purposes of external communications. Moreover, this information may be used to personalize the Website and verify the identity of the User. With your prior consent, Guillemot may also send you the Hercules newsletter.
We also use your personal information for our internal marketing, technical or demographic studies, in order to better meet your needs.
Cookies: thanks to cookies, Guillemot aims to offer a more efficient, more secure and higher quality Website, as well as more personalized contents on the Website. To do so, the cookies we use may record non-personally identifiable information pertaining to your preferences for viewing particular web pages. We may also use cookies to help us in analyzing trends, tracking Users’ movements, and gathering a broad spectrum of demographic information.
Server log information: this information allows Guillemot to assess overall activities on the Website, track interest in products announced, and troubleshoot technical problems. We also use the server log information for our internal marketing and demographic studies, thereby allowing us to offer products with higher performance and more interesting functionalities. Server log information is used internally only.
With whom may Guillemot share my personal information?
We do not communicate personal information to third party companies, with the exception of companies acting on our behalf (for example: a delivery company, allowing them to deliver a prize won by participating in a contest). We also may be obliged to transmit your personal information to the relevant authorities.

Will my personal information be transmitted outside of the European Union?
We envisage transmitting all or part of your personal information (family name, given name, e-mail address, level of expertise and type of use of the product) and your technical information to Guillemot Recherche et Développement Inc., which is located in Canada. You may object to this information being transmitted, by ticking the corresponding box.
