Connecting to theInternet
Connecting via WiFi atHome
To begin, you need to have activated the WiFi function for your eCAFÉTM by pressing FN and F1 simultaneously on your keyboard. The WiFi indicator will appear, and a message will notify you that the WiFi function has been activated.
Next, go to the COMMUNICATION world (see image) and click on Connections to open the eCAFÉTMCONNECT software.
This incredibly user-friendly software instantly gives you the status of your Internet connection. At this stage, you are not connected to your WiFi network.
To connect, click on the Connect button for the "Wireless connection:" option to launch the WiFi connection tool: the WiFi Station software.
The WiFi Station software automatically searches for WiFi networks located within the proximity of your eCAFÉTM. Once the list appears, identify the network corresponding to your home's Internet service. Usually, its name matches what is indicated on the bottom of your ADSL modem router (or Internet Box).
Select it (in our example, the network is named Hercules) and click on the Connect to the network button.
Note: If necessary, you can perform a new search by clicking on the Re-scan button.
If your network is not protected, you will not be prompted for a security key. Simply click on Next to continue on to the final step.
Otherwise, if your network is protected by a WEP, WPA, or WPA2 security key, as is generally true for the Internet Boxes on the market, you must enter the key. The key is usually shown at the bottom of your ADSL modem router or your Internet Box. If necessary, refer to the user manual for your router.
Once you have entered the security key, click on Next to continue on to the final step.
The final step is to save the settings for your WiFi connection so that your eCAFÉTM will connect automatically when you activate the WiFi function at home. You no longer have to launch eCAFÉTMCONNECT and WiFi Station! Select a name for your "Favourite" if you don't like its default name, and then click on Connect to start the connection.
For a few seconds, your eCAFÉTM will communicate with your router and then connect. A message congratulates you for connecting to your network!
The right section, titled Connection Status, in WiFi Station allows you to check the connection.
If the connection failed, you may have selected the wrong network or entered the security key incorrectly. In this case, select the network again, and then click on Connect to the network to try the connection again.
A few seconds later, an icon appears at the bottom-right corner of the screen, as shown, indicating a successful connection to the Internet. Congratulations!
If this icon does not appear, check the connection status of your router or Internet Box.
You can now close WiFi Station and eCAFÉTMCONNECT and go surf as you'd like, without being held down by wires!
